In the backdrop of the Ashadhi monsoon, 1,600 cusecs of water is being released from the Ujani Dam into the Bhima river basin on Saturday (July 18) at 6 am.

The discharge will be made from the power house outlet of the Ujani Dam, and the amount of discharge will be controlled in the next stages depending on the situation, informed the Executive Engineer of the Ujani Dam Management Department, Mr. U. Dumbare.

The administration has appealed to citizens along the Bhima River to be especially vigilant as water discharge is about to begin.

It has also been clarified that no one should enter the riverbed and animals should be kept at a safe distance from the main flow of the river so that there is no loss of life.

Apart from this, the revenue, police, disaster management, water resources department and all related agencies have been instructed to remain alert.

An appeal has been made to avoid unnecessary movement in the riverbank area during the discharge period and to strictly follow the instructions of the administration.
