The United States launched fresh strikes on Iran after forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) struck a container ship on Sunday.

Tehran announced it had again closed the Strait of Hormuz and escalated attacks on U.S. facilities across Gulf states.

Iran said the strategic sea route was shut after it fired a warning shot that struck a vessel travelling on an unapproved route. It warned that any retaliation over the incident would draw a severe response.

Iran's top negotiator, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, wrote on X that the era of one-sided deals was "OVER," adding: "We told you: keep your word or pay the price. Reality is knocking."

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump said negotiations with Iran would continue despite rising tensions. His remarks came as the fragile interim agreement came under strain following fresh military exchanges in the region.

Before the war, about one-fifth of the world's oil supply transited through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran's effective blockade of the waterway has driven energy prices higher, fuelling global inflation.
