Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah addressed the 'Tribal Cultural Conference' organized yesterday in New Delhi. This conference was organized to mark the commencement of the 150th birth anniversary year of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. He asserted that, in the times to come, this conference would gain global recognition as the 'Tribal Mahakumbh.' Mr. Shah noted that Bhagwan Birsa Munda had inspired the tribal community to preserve their culture, religion, and their rights over water, forests, and land. He firmly stated that the Central Government is consistently working towards the development of the tribal community. The budgetary allocation for tribal welfare has been increased from ₹28,000 crore to ₹1.5 lakh crore. He further noted that while a large number of tribals had lost their lives in Naxalite violence, the government has now established effective control over Naxalism. He appealed to the public to steer clear of misconceptions and to participate unitedly in the building of a 'Developed India.'
