The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has initiated a statewide drive against milk adulteration and serious food safety violations in the state. As part of this, the Food Safety Commissioner has issued comprehensive compliance orders for milk and milk products.

Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Munde gave this information in a press conference held in Mumbai yesterday. He clarified that this order has come into effect in the entire Maharashtra with immediate effect and will be mandatory for all the concerned businesses.

According to this order, raw milk can be sold only by following prescribed conditions. Also, many important reforms have been made for pasteurized milk, including safe packaging and strict adherence to the cold chain.

The Food Safety Commissioner has appealed to citizens to purchase only sealed and labeled milk and dairy products.
