According to preliminary information, there is a strong suspicion that the girl was tortured and murdered. This incident has created a stir in the entire Wardha district and strong anger is being expressed among the citizens.

The incident came to light when the parents returned home:

According to the information received, the parents of the victim girl came to know about this shocking incident when they returned home from work. The girl's body was found in a badly decomposed and naked state in the house. She had been hit on the head and face with a stone. On receiving information about this incident, the local police immediately rushed to the spot.

POCSO and murder case registered:

In this case, based on the complaint filed by the victim's family, the police have registered a case of murder and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Considering the seriousness of the crime, the police have started expediting the investigation. The police have said that they will seek the advice and report of medical experts to further clarify whether torture has taken place or not.

14 teams sent for investigation; 3 people detained:

As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police administration has started investigating the matter on a war footing. The investigation of the entire matter has been handed over to senior officers at the sub-divisional level. Also, as many as 14 special police teams have been formed to trace the accused and solve the crime as soon as possible. Based on suspicion, the police have so far detained three people for questioning and a thorough investigation is underway.
