Mumbai is experiencing heavy rains, with a record 600 mm of rain in just 24 hours, leading to landslides at several places on the Karjat-Lonavala Ghat section of the Mumbai-Pune railway line, severely affecting rail traffic.

According to officials, 22 landslides have been reported in Pune district over the past two days. Restoration work is underway in the Ghat section with the help of 200 workers, and arrangements are being made for another 200 workers to expedite the work, officials said.

According to Central Railway, till late Monday evening, 27 trains, including four suburban services between Palasdari and Lonavala, were cancelled, 57 were diverted, 19 were terminated short of their destination, 15 were run from diverted stations and four were rescheduled.

Meanwhile, train services between Karjat and Khopoli in Raigad district were partially restored on Monday evening after remaining suspended for nearly 12 hours.
