Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the medal winners of the 2026 Commonwealth Games at his residence in New Delhi yesterday. The medal winners shared their experiences at the Commonwealth Games with the Prime Minister. Modi said that the real honour is not just in winning medals, but in excelling as a young athlete. He encouraged the athletes to continue to raise the profile of 'Khelo India'.

Speaking to weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, the Prime Minister said that her victory will inspire future generations. The Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Nikhil Khadse were also present on the occasion.

India finished fourth at the Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, Scotland from 23rd to 2nd July. Indian athletes won a total of 39 medals, including 13 gold, 17 silver and 9 bronze medals.
