Linda Noskova overcame the disappointment of wasting five match points to defeat compatriot Karolina Muchova and claim her first Grand Slam title.

Noskova won 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 at Wimbledon, becoming the third Czech woman in four years to lift the title after Marketa Vondrousova in 2023 and Barbora Krejcikova in 2024.

Her victory extended a streak of new champions at the All England Club, with a first-time winner emerging for the ninth consecutive edition.

Noskova appeared close to suffering a heartbreaking defeat after breaking down in tears following the missed match points in the second set.

However, the 21-year-old managed to regain her composure in the final set and closed out the match to secure the championship.

Noskova matched the achievement of fellow Czech player Petra Kvitova, who was also 21 years old when she won the first of her two Wimbledon titles in 2011
