With the objective of ensuring the quality of food products during the summer season, a divisional 'Flying Squad'—accompanied by the local Food Safety Administration team—conducted surprise inspections of two ice cream manufacturing units in Narmadapuram district yesterday. This joint team raided 'Novelty Frozen Foods' in Rasalpur and the 'Sarita Ice Cream Unit' in Narmadapuram. During the inspections, violations of licensing conditions were detected at both facilities. Consequently, notices have been issued to them under the 'Food Safety and Standards Act.' The team collected a total of seven samples from 'Novelty Frozen Foods,' including ice cream, ice candy, citric acid, milk powder, and flavoring agents. Meanwhile, five samples were collected from 'Sarita Ice Cream,' comprising orange lollies, desiccated coconut, citric acid, and vegetable fat. All 12 of these samples are being sent to the State Food Laboratory for analysis. Food Safety Officer Kamlesh Diyawar stated, "Further action will be taken in accordance with the regulations once the laboratory reports are received. The health risks posed by contaminated ice cream increase during the summer; therefore, this campaign will continue without interruption." Such surprise inspections will continue to be conducted regularly across the district in the days to come.
