The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has launched a major statewide operation targeting the suspected network of Pakistan-based gangster and alleged 'ISI' handler Shahzad Bhatti. As part of this operation, a joint operation was conducted in Wardha on Friday morning, in which one suspect was arrested.

According to information received, an eight-member team of Nagpur and Wardha ATS teams detained a person for questioning at around 6:30 am on Friday. The person is approximately 40 years old and lives in the Wardha city police station limits.

According to preliminary information, this person is suspected to be in contact with Shahzad Bhatti through social media.

According to sources, the alleged network of this Pakistan-based gangster is spread across various states of the country.

The investigating agencies suspect that people are being lured into anti-national activities through social media by offering money and other inducements. The ATS is conducting operations in various states to expose and dismantle this network.

Also, another suspect who was in contact with the person arrested in Wardha has reportedly been brought for questioning from the Vadner police station limits; however, there is no official confirmation yet on the exact extent of the alleged involvement of both of them. Throughout the day, the ATS team thoroughly interrogated the suspects and examined their mobile phones, call detail records (CDRs), social media activities and other technical evidence.

As of now, the ATS has not issued any official statement on the matter; detailed details of the case are likely to emerge only after the investigation is completed.
