The meeting of senior officials of the BRICS Transport Working Group is underway in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

V. Umashankar, Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, said that the BRICS platform provides an opportunity to the member countries to develop a common approach based on cooperation and consensus on important issues related to the transport sector.

He said six priority topics are being discussed at this year's meeting, including sustainable aviation fuel, decarbonization of infrastructure, and sustainable urban transport.

V. Umashankar expressed hope that the meeting will give new impetus to cooperation among BRICS countries for the development of sustainable and robust transport systems.
