Monsoon rains have disrupted traffic movement on several major highways across Nepal due to floods, landslides, road maintenance and continuous rainfall, according to Nepal Police.

As of 8 AM on Tuesday, several highways were facing full or partial obstructions across different provinces.

In Koshi Province, traffic movement has been restricted to one-way on the road in Bhojpur due to flooding, while the Mechi Highway in Ilam is also operating one-way following a landslide.

In Bagmati Province, vehicle movement has been stopped on the Kathmandu-NepalThok-Kutunje section due to the risk of flooding.

The Kulekhani-Phakel-Pharping-Kathmandu road section in Makwanpur has been completely closed due to maintenance work and is expected to remain closed for about a month.

The Friendship Bridge connecting Nepal and China at Rasuwagadhi has also been closed until July 17 for maintenance.

Several other routes, including sections of Kanti Lokpath, BP Highway and Saljhandi-Dhorpatan road, have reported disruptions due to landslides and floods.

Nepal Police has advised the public to check road conditions before travelling and use alternative routes wherever necessary.
