Thailand Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is on a two-day visit to Malaysia aimed at boosting economic cooperation and resolving longstanding border issues between the two Southeast Asian neighbours.

Following bilateral talks, the Prime Ministers of Thailand and Malaysia agreed to work towards establishing a special border economic zone and to strengthen cross-border trade and connectivity.

The two sides also resolved a trade dispute over seafood imports. Earlier this year, Thailand restricted imports of Malaysian sea bass over concerns about chemical residues, while Malaysia temporarily banned some varieties of Thai shrimp citing food safety issues.

The leaders also agreed to facilitate immigration and customs procedures along the border and witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on agricultural cooperation.

On a lighter note, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul joined Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for a rendition of Frank Sinatra's My Way, with PM Anutin playing the saxophone and PM Anwar singing.
