Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced that Maharashtra's economy has reached ₹54 lakh crore, having more than tripled in size over the last 10 years.

He was speaking during an interview conducted at the ‘Imaginex 2026’ event held at the Jio World Centre. He stated that while natural challenges—such as El Niño—have had some impact, the target of achieving a $1 trillion economy by 2030 remains attainable, provided Maharashtra maintains its current pace of growth.

The Chief Minister remarked that Maharashtra is not in direct competition with any other Indian state, but is instead carving out a distinct identity for itself on the global stage. He noted that the state currently ranks as the 30th largest economy in the world and possesses the potential to surpass economies like Singapore and the UAE within the next 2 to 3 years.

He clarified that technology and artificial intelligence serve as crucial "force multipliers" in this journey of development. He further added that, aided by AI and cutting-edge technologies, the state is witnessing a surge in new industries, data centers, and technology-driven enterprises, thereby establishing Maharashtra as a premier hub for global investment.

Chief Minister Fadnavis underscored that Maharashtra is forging ahead rapidly, driven by the pillars of research, innovation, and industrial growth.
