A cross-border digital payment facility between India and Cambodia, based on UPI and QR codes, was launched in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Through this initiative, Indian tourists visiting Cambodia will be able to make direct and secure digital payments to approximately 4.5 million KHQR-based merchants in the country using their Unified Payments Interface (UPI) apps.

Implemented through the collaboration of the Reserve Bank of India and the National Bank of Cambodia, this project is expected to foster transparent transactions and reduce reliance on cash.

In the second phase of this initiative, a facility enabling tourists from Cambodia to make payments in India using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system will soon be made available.
