Final Two-Day Window for Electoral Roll Updates

With only two days remaining before the official deadline of September 30, 2026, the Election Commission has urged all eligible citizens across Jharkhand to complete their applications under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive. The ongoing process provides an opportunity for residents to add their names to the draft electoral roll, raise formal objections, request deletions, correct personal details, or transfer voting constituencies.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K. Ravi Kumar issued an official statement from Ranchi, appealing to citizens not to wait until the final hours. He emphasized that ensuring inclusion in the voter list is a fundamental democratic right and responsibility, urging community members to raise awareness among family, neighbors, and peers so no eligible individual is left unrepresented.

Statutory Forms and Application Submission Protocols

The Election Machinery has categorized the application procedure into distinct statutory forms to streamline claims and objections:

* Form-6 (New Registration): Designated for individuals whose names are currently absent from the draft electoral roll. Citizens who reach the minimum voting age of 18 as of October 1, 2026, are required to submit Form-6 alongside the mandatory self-declaration form. * Form-7 (Deletions and Objections): Used to lodge objections against inappropriate entries or request the deletion of names due to relocation or death. CEO K. Ravi Kumar clarified that filing Form-7 does not automatically delete a name; every objection will undergo verification, notices, and formal hearings before an electoral registration officer makes a final determination. * Form-8 (Corrections and Transfers): Provided for voters who need to rectify typographical errors, update residential addresses, or transfer their voting location within or across polling stations.

Applications can be submitted digitally through the online ECINET portal or physically via local Booth Level Officers (BLOs).

Post-Deadline Scrutiny and Final Roll Publication

Following the closure of the submission window on September 30, the election administration will initiate the subsequent technical phase. This stage involves the digitization of all physical claims and objections, administrative scrutiny of submitted documents, issuance of notices where discrepancies exist, and conducting official hearings. Upon resolution of all filed claims, the Election Commission will proceed to publish the finalized electoral rolls.

To maximize participation, the Chief Electoral Officer called upon political parties, Recognized Party Agents (BLAs), election staff, and civic authorities to execute intensive localized awareness campaigns during these final 48 hours to ensure zero voter exclusion.
