According to the railways, the new portal will be capable of booking more than 1.5 lakh tickets per minute. The railways' passenger reservation system has also been upgraded. The new system will be able to handle more than 4 million inquiries per minute. This upgrade will reduce delays, especially during Tatkal ticket bookings, and the website will operate faster than before.

The new website has also added several new features for passenger convenience. Passengers will now be able to select their preferred seat options when booking tickets. A fare calendar is also available. Special booking facilities for the disabled, students, and patients have been integrated into a single platform.

It will be free of unnecessary pop-ups, flashing graphics, and unnecessary captchas, making ticket booking, especially Tatkal tickets, easier and faster. It's worth noting that students were also involved in the design process, who provided suggestions to improve the website's look and feel. Based on the feedback received, the new website is ready for trial.
