U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened Iran with strikes that are much worse, in the event of further attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz, after posting uncaptioned videos on Truth Social showing explosions.

Late on Wednesday while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, President Trump said that the Iranian side had called a little while ago and they wanted to make a deal so badly.

In a post on X, Iran's top negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that the U.S. has yet to learn that bullying and breaking its commitments no longer come without a cost. He said the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened only under Iranian arrangements, not through U.S. threats.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has deplored the U.S. President’s rhetoric against Iranian nation, saying that Iranians will respond to President Trump’s derogatory language with their actions.

In a post on his X account, Araghchi dismissed the U.S. President’s comments against Iran which were made by him during NATO summit in Turkey.

The latest exchange of strikes appeared to dim hopes of turning a MoU signed on June 17 into a permanent deal to end the war, which began with U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28.
