Representatives of India and Sri Lanka reviewed bilateral cooperation in the energy sector at a meeting held in New Delhi.

The Indian delegation was led by Union Minister for Power and Housing Manohar Lal, while the Sri Lankan delegation was led by Minister for Ports and Civil Aviation Anura Karunathilke.

The meeting discussed various power projects including the proposed India-Sri Lanka HVDC (High-Voltage Direct Current Interconnection) and the Sampur Power Project.

In addition, opportunities to further enhance bilateral cooperation in the areas of cross-border electricity trade, renewable energy, and capacity building were also discussed.

The meeting focused on accelerating ongoing projects to further strengthen energy cooperation between the two countries, as well as exploring new opportunities for future cooperation.
