India and Australia are looking to deepen economic cooperation as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese urged businesses from both countries to seize new opportunities in sectors ranging from critical minerals and semiconductors to artificial intelligence and defence.

Addressing more than 200 CEOs and business leaders at the Economic Roadmap Business Reception in Melbourne, the two leaders highlighted the growing potential of the India-Australia partnership and called for stronger industry collaboration.

Prime Minister Modi highlighted the natural synergies between India and Australia and called for an early conclusion of the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA).

He encouraged businesses to work together in sectors including critical minerals, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, electric vehicles and defence. He also urged Indian states and Australian provinces to build stronger economic partnerships.

The Prime Minister called for deeper collaboration through focused state-to-state and sector-to-sector partnerships between India and Australia, reaffirming his commitment to further strengthening bilateral business ties.

Further, in his address, PM Modi said India's growth story offers significant opportunities for Australian businesses and emphasised that both countries can build trusted and future-ready partnerships.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on his part said India and Australia have progressed along similar journeys with shared objectives. He praised PM Modi's leadership in realising opportunities that had remained underexplored and underexamined over the past decade.
