Due to the heavy rains that have been continuing in Palghar district for the last eight to ten days, the water level in the dams in the district is increasing rapidly.

The Dhamani Dam of the Surya project, which supplies water to the agricultural and industrial sectors of the district as well as the Vasai-Virar and Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporations, is currently at about 53 percent water level. The Kavdas Dam of the same project is full to its capacity and has overflowed.

17 gates of Kavdas Dam have been opened, and water is currently being released into the Surya river basin at a rate of about 50,000 cusecs. Due to this, the Surya river has been flooded.

In this context, a warning has been issued to citizens living along the river banks and in low-lying areas. The district administration has appealed to citizens not to go to the riverbed, bridge and dam areas unnecessarily, and to follow the instructions of the administration without believing any rumors.
