The India Meteorological Department has predicted widespread rain across the country in the coming days, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely in many areas.

In North India, heavy rains are likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Heavy rains accompanied by thunder, lightning and gusty winds are also likely over some parts of Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

In view of the severe weather conditions, the Vaishno Devi Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir has been temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure for the safety of pilgrims. The Amarnath Yatra will also remain temporarily suspended from July 19 due to the forecast of bad weather, officials have announced.

In Central India, there is a possibility of rain across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha, with heavy rain possible at some places.

Heavy rains are also likely in East and Northeast India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya. Heavy rains are also likely in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal.

In West India, heavy rains are likely over Goa, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Rains accompanied by thundershowers and gusty winds are also likely over many parts of South India including Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has advised residents, especially those in sensitive and low-lying areas, to remain alert, as heavy rains may cause localized flooding, landslides and disruption to daily activities.
