Houthi attacks on Yemen’s strategic Marib province killed at least 10 people on Friday, as the rebels escalated strikes in the oil-rich region.

The Houthis said they targeted Saudi-backed forces, depots, vehicles and military equipment at the Sahn al-Jinn camp in the city using missiles and drones.

The attacks came a day after at least 30 Yemeni government troops were killed in strikes on military camps in Marib and Hadramawt provinces, according to government sources. The attacks were among the deadliest escalations in months.

Marib province is divided between the Houthis and the Yemeni government, which controls Marib city as well as the area’s oil fields and facilities.

The Houthis resumed an offensive on the energy-rich province in 2021, but fighting largely halted following the 2022 truce.
