Chandrakant Patil, the Minister for Higher and Technical Education, interacted with the media today following a meeting of the District Planning Committee held at the Sangli District Collector's office. During this interaction, he provided updates on various development projects and also responded to criticism leveled by the opposition.

Minister Chandrakant Patil stated that achieving development often necessitates making certain sacrifices. He emphasized that the State Government is not anti-farmer and assured that the interests of farmers would be fully taken into account during the construction of the Shaktipeeth Highway. He also criticized Jayant Patil, who has been opposing the Shaktipeeth Highway project. In this context, he pointed out that the road connecting Sangli to Peth has not yet been completed.

Meanwhile, he also made a witty remark regarding Jitendra Awhad. He suggested that since the camel is the symbolic vehicle of the community Awhad represents, Awhad should travel on a camel rather than on a horse. While affirming his respect for individual liberty and freedom of speech, Chandrakant Patil also issued a warning: if criticism is leveled without valid grounds, it will be met with a fitting response.

Providing details regarding the District Planning Committee meeting, he stated that funds amounting to ₹631 crore have been expended on development works within the Sangli district during the 2025-26 fiscal year. Furthermore, for the year 2026-27, development projects worth ₹676 crore have been sanctioned under the District Annual Plan, the Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan, and schemes applicable to areas outside the Tribal Sub-Plan region.

Present on this occasion were District Collector Mainak Ghosh, Superintendent of Police Tushar Doshi, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Vishal Narwade, and Municipal Commissioner Sanjita Mohapatra.
