The ongoing heavy rains in the state have now affected the tourism sector as well. The administration has imposed a ban on entry to major tourist sites in the Junnar forest area of Pune district until further orders for the safety of tourists.

This includes historical and natural tourist sites in the Junnar area, which is known as the only tourist taluka in the state. The historical forts of Shivneri, Chavand, Jivdhan, Hadsar and Nimgiri have been closed to tourists.

Also, visiting Daryaghat, Kanchan Falls at Hatvij, Naneghat, and other dangerous tourist spots has been prohibited.

Incessant rains have created a risk of landslides, slippery paths and sudden increase in water flow in mountainous areas. Against this backdrop, the administration has taken this decision as a precautionary measure.

The Forest Department has appealed to citizens and tourists to follow the instructions of the administration and avoid unnecessary travel.
