The number of pilgrims heading towards Pandharpur is increasing in the backdrop of Ashadhi Ekadashi. In this backdrop, there is a demand from passengers and pilgrims to start the Nagpur-Kolhapur Express, which is important for devotees from Vidarbha, on a daily basis.

This train from Nagpur to Kolhapur is considered convenient for devotees from Vidarbha for the Pandharpur Yatra. However, as this train currently runs only two days a week, many devotees are inconvenienced during the Ashadhi Yatra.

Thousands of pilgrims from Amravati, Akola, Washim, Yavatmal and Buldhana districts travel to Pandharpur by this train every year. However, due to unavailability of reservations and unavailability of train services on the desired day, many devotees have to travel by private vehicles or buses. Due to this, both time and cost increase, say the passengers.

During the Ashadhi Yatra, there is a huge rush in the trains and the available general coaches are becoming insufficient. Due to this, devotees have to travel through the crowd and often standing.

Keeping this situation in mind, Warkari, citizens and passengers have demanded from the railway administration that the Nagpur-Kolhapur Express should be operated daily during the Ashadhi Yatra period, and that additional general coaches be added considering the increasing number of passengers.

Devotees are expressing hope that the railway administration will urgently take a positive decision on this demand.
