The Mazgaon Magistrate Court has issued a bailable warrant against BJP leader and Minister of State Nitesh Rane in connection with a criminal defamation complaint filed by Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut.

While court hearings in this matter were underway, Nitesh Rane had approached the Sessions Court seeking to have the case transferred to a different court. However, the Sessions Court rejected his plea. Subsequently, as he remained absent from two scheduled hearings, the Mazgaon Court issued the bailable warrant against him. Consequently, he will now be required to appear before the court and secure bail.

Meanwhile, during the period of political transition, Nitesh Rane had made a statement alleging that Sanjay Raut was planning to join the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Furthermore, he is accused of having made derogatory remarks regarding Sanjay Raut in May 2023. Alleging that these statements caused him public defamation, Sanjay Raut filed a criminal defamation suit against Nitesh Rane.

According to Sanjay Raut's complaint, these statements were made with the specific intent of damaging his political reputation. The judicial proceedings in this matter are set to continue during the next scheduled hearing.
