The town of 'Gotan,' situated within the district, is renowned for its historical, industrial, and cultural significance. Thanks to vast reserves of limestone and a thriving cement industry, this region has long served as a major hub for industrial activity. The Gotan railway station, strategically located on the Jodhpur-Jaipur railway route, is currently undergoing modernization and redevelopment under the 'Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.' According to Amit Sudarshan, Chief Public Relations Officer for North Western Railway, the station's redevelopment project has been undertaken at an estimated cost of ₹18.93 crore. This project encompasses the construction of a new, modern station building, an expanded waiting hall, and upgraded parking and passenger amenities. To further enhance passenger convenience, facilities such as a foot overbridge, digital information systems, modern restrooms, and accessible amenities for persons with disabilities are also being developed. According to railway officials, Gotan station witnesses a daily footfall of over 3,000 passengers and serves as a scheduled halt for approximately 20 pairs of trains. It is anticipated that the redevelopment of this station will provide fresh momentum to the local economy and industrial activities in the region.
