The impact of the heavy rains that have been continuing in Pauri district for the last two days is now clearly visible on normal life.

More than 80 roads were closed due to landslides and debris accumulation at various locations, disrupting traffic in rural and urban areas.

However, the district administration and relevant departments have taken up relief work on a war footing and reopened most of these roads for traffic.

District Magistrate Swati S. Bhadauria said that all sub-divisional magistrates have been instructed to remain on 'high alert' due to incessant rains.

The damage in the affected areas is being assessed; Revenue Department teams have visited the site and are preparing a detailed report.

Meanwhile, District Disaster Management Officer Deepesh Kala informed that 80 roads were closed due to heavy rains, out of which 58 roads have now been reopened.

Currently, 22 roads are closed and efforts are underway to clear them. In view of the weather conditions, the administration has appealed to the citizens to take precautions and avoid unnecessary travel.
