In a major operation against smuggling along the Indo-Nepal border, a joint team of the 44th Battalion (Narkatiaganj) of the Sashastra Seema Dal (SSB) and Bihar Police arrested a smuggler with 75.3 kg of ganja. The seized ganja was being smuggled into India from Nepal for illegal sale; its value in the international market is estimated to be in lakhs of rupees.

According to the SSB, a joint night patrol was underway near the Pachrouta Tin Mohani bridge at midnight (around 2:20 am) on Saturday; the area falls under the jurisdiction of 'C' Company (Pacharouta) of 44th Battalion. During the operation, a team of SSB and Bihar Police set up a check post about 2.7 km inside the Indian territory from International Border Pillar No. 429 and started checking vehicles and suspicious persons. The operation was led by Inspector (General) Jaiprakash, SSB.

While the checkpoint was operational, a person was seen entering the Indian border from Nepal carrying a sack on his head. On suspicion, the security forces stopped him and searched the sack. During this search, a total of 75.3 kg of ganja was found.

The arrested smuggler has been identified as 39-year-old Ravindra Yadav (father: Kanhaiya Yadav). He is a resident of Khairwa Tola, Damarpur under Manpur police station limits in West Champaran district.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused's intention was to smuggle ganja from Nepal to India and sell it illegally and make huge financial profits from it. After this operation, the seized ganja and the arrested smuggler were handed over to the Bhangaha police for further legal action.

The police and SSB are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter. Efforts are also underway to identify other individuals involved in the smuggling ring and to find out where the drug cache was to be delivered.
